Date: 02-05-2024

Student invitations for Fairfield University’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) will be sent to eligible students today, February 5, 2024. These invitations typically bring questions, so this notice is intended to provide awareness of the organization and support you in answering any questions your students might have.

The National Society of Leadership and Success at Fairfield University

The NSLS is a leadership honor society available for membership at the beginning of our fall and spring semesters. Our new chapter, which began in Fall 2023, brings student members together as they join over 1.5 million other members nationwide. Karl Uzcategui, Associate Director, Office of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs,  serves as Chapter Advisor, helping to mentor and guide Kevin Splan, as Chapter President, in leading the executive board to support their peers’ leadership development.

What is The National Society of Leadership and Success?

The NSLS is the largest and only accredited leadership honor society in the nation, with more than 700 chapters and over 1.5 million members. With a flexible online curriculum, the NSLS is perfect for all students, especially those who are balancing full course loads with families and full-time jobs.

The NSLS aligns with our mission of teaching students skills that will last a lifetime. Throughout the program, students hone valuable, in-demand skill sets that hiring managers specifically look for, including leadership, relationship-building, goal-setting, and effective communication.

Member Experience and Benefits

The NSLS Foundations of Leadership orientation program takes approximately nine hours or less to complete at the students’ own pace. Here, they will get to experience Speaker Broadcasts, which bring high-profile leaders exclusively to members, including former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, Dr. Bernice King, Mark Cuban, and many others.

Beyond the leadership orientation, our members become part of a community of fellows across the nation, where they’ll network and make lifelong connections. On top of the skills they learn and connections they make, NSLS membership provides access to over $400,000 in scholarships each year, along with many partner discounts to help them save even more.

Once students complete the leadership orientation program, they become inducted members and gain access to even more benefits, including personalized letters of recommendation, an exclusive NSLS job board, additional scholarships, and opportunities for advanced leadership education, allowing them to earn credits as they learn to lead.
