Community-Engaged Learning Course Development Grants: Call for Proposals

Date: 02-14-2024

Location: Canisius 200

Dear Faculty,

The Center for Social Impact’s Community-Engaged Learning Program is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 Community-Engaged Learning Course Development Grants.

Community-engaged learning (CEL) is an experiential approach to teaching and learning. Through CEL, students have the opportunity to enhance their learning and contribute to positive social impact by working alongside community partners on projects and activities that connect with credit-bearing academic experiences. For faculty who are interested in developing a new CEL course or revising an existing course to include CEL, we offer our Course Development and Co-Mentoring Program Grants. These grants and the resulting Co-Mentoring Program have been in existence for 15+ years and have led to the development of over 80 community-engaged learning courses.  We continue to offer this grant opportunity as our primary pathway for developing sustainable community-engaged learning courses as well as a strong community of scholar-practitioners. Each award is $2,750.

For those interested in learning more about Community-Engaged Learning and the course development process, there will be an INFORMATION SESSION on Wednesday, February 14th, 12pm-1pm, in Canisius 200 (lunch provided). Please RSVP for the information session here: https://forms.gle/25H4HgdzG9Mgzwz17

If you are not able to attend the on-campus event, we are happy to meet individually with faculty who are interested to learn more and discuss potential courses/projects.

The application for the grant can be downloaded here. Proposals are due on March 15, 2024.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
