Talk Title: Welcome to the world of comparative psychology

Abstract: Comparative psychology is the oldest of the organized psychologies with the term first appearing in 1778. Arguably, comparative psychology is on the decline and there is a real possibility that the field will all but disappear. The goal of this lecture is to stimulate renewed interest in comparative psychology. What is comparative psychology, why is it important, and why should you be interested in it. A variety of applied and basic research will be discussed using a variety of animals including honey bees, elephants, llamas, and rattlesnakes.
