Please join us Thursday, March 21st at 7:00 pm in the Egan School of Nursing & Health Studies, Room 204. Dr. Amaka Okechukwu, author of To Fulfill These Rights, which won the 2020 Eduardo Bonilla-Silva Outstanding Book Award from the Society for the Study of Social Problems, will deliver the annual lecture and keynote, titled, “Black Belt Brooklyn: Black Women’s Collectives, Community Building, and a Social Infrastructure of Care,” for the Black Studies and Women Gender and Sexuality Studies programs. Following the lecture, Dr. Shannon King, of the History Department and the Black Studies program, and Dr. Okechukwu will have a short discussion about the broader dimensions of her scholarly and public-facing work. 

This event is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by Peace & Justice Studies, American Studies, Sociology & Anthropology, History Department, and The Office of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs.
