Global Fairfield: College of Arts and Sciences

Employers are looking to hire graduates who bring a global perspective to their workplace. That is why the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and Global Fairfield have worked with renowned international partners around the world to offer our students a wide variety of study abroad and international internship opportunities. The April 23rd edition of Inside Higher Education the article; “Report: The Value of Study Abroad for Student Success” states “new survey from global engagement platform provider Terra Dotta found that, among students who had studied abroad or plan to study abroad, learners recognize the value of international education and its impact on their life and career skills,”[1] Students whom participate in global academic opportunities return with a unique skill set which includes but is not limited to:

     Increase in self-confidence

Improvement in speaking and understanding of a foreign language

     Strong cross-cultural communication skills

A new awareness of writings, philosophies, and practices of different nationality

CAS has identified the best international program locations based on majors. The listing and links below are a wonderful guide for implementing a semester study abroad experience while a CAS undergrad.

Short-Term Study Abroad Opportunities–

Students are able to complete Magis core or elective courses over the summer or winter break through a variety of Fairfield’s Global and Program Partners. With proper planning students may participate in more than one program over their four years at Fairfield.

Global Fairfield has a long list of Summer approved programs offering coursework in English, Environmental Studies, History, Modern Languages, Religion and VPA with partners in Aix-en-Provence, Athens, Galway, Florence, London and Salamanca.

January Intersession is also a terrific time for students to earn 3 credits with one of our three partners that offer standing January programs.

Faculty are offering more and more course during winter and summer breaks check here for the current Faculty Led Options.

Global Fairfield appreciates the strong and growing commitment the College of Arts and Sciences has made to incorporate international learning opportunities for their students
