FYE Event Proposals

We are excited to welcome submissions for FYE events for the Class of 2028.

For those who are unfamiliar with FYE events, all first-year students are enrolled in a First-Year Experience (FYE) seminar and as part of their passing requirements they must attend 4 events that fall into our 4 categories: Connect, Inspire, Thrive and DEI. You may choose for your event to be considered as one of the following or have the FYE Team determine which category is most appropriate:

Connect Events are events or experiences where students can socialize and foster a sense of belonging within the Fairfield community. Examples include FUSA events, athletic games, IRHA events, club events, RA programs, etc.

Inspire Events are events or experiences meant to inspire students to explore new ideas, perspectives, and opportunities. Examples include lectures, fairs, Quick performances, theater events, art museum events, etc.

Thrive Events are events or experiences where students can learn skills to thrive at Fairfield and beyond. Examples include workshops, skill development events, professional development opportunities, health and wellness events, etc.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI): event meets the criteria of a general Inspire event while also focusing on DEI topics about protected classes (race, ethnicity, age, gender, ability, sexual orientation, citizenship, religion, etc.). Intersectionality with other mission-related topics is encouraged.

The preferred deadline for FYE Event submissions is August 31st but we will accept them on a rolling basis if submit the event at least two weeks prior to the event date. Please note, it does take the FYE 3-5 business days to review event submissions.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at fye@fairfield.edu with any questions.
