ITS Update: Cybersecurity Improvements

Date: 08-19-2024

Time: 09:00 AM

The University’s Information Security team is enhancing our security posture to best protect our community's information and systems. Currently, we block hundreds of thousands of network intrusion attempts weekly. As cyber threats evolve, we are strengthening our security policies and implementing advanced security solutions to remain secure and implement protections to ensure and secure a prosperous future for the University.

Password and Multi-Factor Authentication Updates

Starting August 19th, our password policy will be strengthened to require passwords to be at least ten characters long, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters, aligning with IT Security best practices. Please note that these new requirements will only apply the next time you change your password.

In addition, Duo Verified Push will be implemented August 19th, improving our multi-factor authentication (MFA) method by requiring entry of a simple code when accessing University systems, adding an extra layer of security.
