The DiMenna-Nyselius Library will host the premiere of the feature-length documentary, Dear Willy: World War II Through the Eyes of One of Hollywood's Most Prominent Couples. Recent Fairfield graduate and now Director Taylor Alexander and Executive Producer/Co-Writer Jay Rozgonyi bring to life a unique look at World War II as told through the lives of the famous Hollywood director William Wyler and his wife Margaret Tallichet.
William Wyler is known for producing and directing many films, including Ben-Hur, Roman Holiday, Funny Girl, and The Best Years of Our Lives. The documentary Dear Willy offers insights into Wyler's work filming war documentaries across Europe through a series of never-before-published personal correspondence. Made in collaboration with the Wyler family, the film provides a moving story of love triumphing over hardships.
Accompanying the screening is the Library's exhibit Master Filmmaker, Man of Courage: William Wyler in World War II, curated by Jay Rozgonyi, Associate Vice Provost for Pedagogical Innovations & Effectiveness. The exhibit features correspondence, photographs, and other archival material from the Wyler family's personal collection.
