"Pan-Africanism and Sovereignty in Contemporary West Africa"

Sponsored by Black Studies

Dr. Cheikh Mbacke Sené will provide historical backgrounds and more importantly, critical insights into the resurgence of Pan-Africanism and African sovereignty, particularly in response to neo-colonialism. The event will address pressing political and economic challenges in the region such as the rejection of French military presence and the debate surrounding the controversial currency, CFA Franc. Overall, the event offers a unique opportunity to extend students' understanding of contemporary African economic and political dynamics, enriching their academic experience and fostering meaningful dialogue on campus.

Light fare and refreshments will be served.
