Optical Practical Training (OPT) Opportunities for International Students

We are excited to share important information about Optional Practical Training (OPT) for our international students. OPT provides a valuable opportunity for students on F-1 visas to gain practical work experience in their field of study after they have graduated.

What is OPT?

Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows F-1 students to work in the United States for up to 12 months (with the possibility of a 24-month extension for STEM fields) after completing their degree program. This program is designed to enhance the educational experience by allowing students to apply their knowledge in a professional setting.

Who Qualifies for OPT?

To qualify for OPT, international students must meet the following criteria:

1.       F-1 Visa Status: Students must be in valid F-1 status for at least one academic year.

2.       Completed Degree Program: Students must be in the process of completing or have completed a degree program at an accredited institution.

3.       Full-Time Enrollment: Students must have maintained full-time enrollment for at least one academic year prior to applying.
