Trees! Presentation on our recent Campus Tree Survey

Date: 11-18-2024

Time: 05:00 PM

Location: NHS 224

Our beautiful campus is covered in a wonderful array of Trees!!   Come and learn about all the different species of trees we have on campus.  Some, including oaks and maples, are familiar to all but many others such as Southern Catalpas, Ginkos, and even Redwoods add to the diversity of our campus flora.  Two students, Ella Toth-Melko and Brady Wilson, working with Professor Steffen spent much of the summer traipsing around campus cataloguing the location, species, and size of over 3,400 trees on campus.   Learn about our biggest, most abundant, oddest, and most invasive trees!   Learn how we plan to use this data to develop a campus tree trail, initiate research projects involving campus green-space, and help our community plan for the future.
