Date: 11-25-2024
Time: 07:00 PM
Location: DiMenna-Nyselius Library, 106 Open Area (Lower Level) and Auditorium (Lower Level, Room 101)
Join us on Monday, November 25th at 7:00 pm in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library for an exhibition viewing, documentary screening, and discussion about the experience of children and individuals living in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine since the start of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War.
A selection of Ukrainian children’s artwork from the art therapy initiative, “Children Draw War, Not Flowers,” is currently on view in the Library. Exhibit curator Dr. Ulia Gosart, and Sara Clair, of San Jose State University will offer a tour of the exhibit and a discussion following the screening of a short documentary film about a female soldier’s experience on the front lines, directed by Ukrainian filmmaker, Volodymyr Sydko.
“Children Draw War, Not Flowers” is a traveling exhibit of drawings by Ukrainian children on their experiences with the Russian-Ukraine War. It will be on display in the Library through the end of the Fall semester. Prior to coming to Fairfield, this traveling exhibit was on display at Loyola Marymount University. It will head to University of South Florida in early spring.
