New Announcement for Faculty Led Courses in Non Traditional Locations

Dear Colleagues,

Two important announcements about faculty-led courses in non-traditional locations:

  1. Take a Current Classroom Syllabus Abroad Where the Location is the Main Textbook: If you are interested in offering a faculty-led course in a non-traditional location, especially those who attended the January 2025 Workshop, and have an existing and approved syllabus that you need assistance to transition it to a successful faculty-led offering, there will be a workshop offered by Global Fairfield. Please reply to this email with your availability for an in-person or Zoom meeting(s) in April to “Take a Current Classroom Syllabus Abroad Where the Location is the Main Textbook.” The goal is to provide you with one-on-one assistance to speed up any further approvals related to the travel component for a summer 2026 launch.
  1. What I Need to Know about Developing a Faculty-led Program Abroad in a Non-Traditional Location: Because not all faculty who have presented interest in offering a faculty-led course in a non-traditional location were able to attend, we are offering another workshop this spring to share the information. This workshop will review:

·       the timeline for designing a syllabus and submitting a course proposal

·       challenges and tips for developing a successful program

·       health and safety considerations and what measures are provided by the University

·       the process of approvals for launching a program

·       what "personal style” is best for being a Faculty Leader

Our goal is to offer this workshop in May. Please access this Doodle link to select a time that works best for you: https://doodle.com/group-poll/participate/bYrzp2Kd.  Faculty members who submit courses to this program will receive a $1,000 stipend. The stipend will be paid in two installments: the first half will be paid upon the submission of the final course proposal (after all necessary approvals have been obtained). The second half will be paid after receiving approval from the ITPRC.

We realize that April and May can be a very busy time, but we do want to hold these workshops before the summer break so that progress can continue over those months in preparation for a Summer 2026, January 2027, Spring Break 2027, or Summer 2027 launch. Finalizing course approvals, onsite logistics, program details, and program fees can take much longer than expected, which is why the timeline for faculty-led programs is much further out than many would expect. Our goal is to have the following AY programs ready for promotions in September when marketing and promotion are most intense. We believe these spring workshops can be pivotal for you to reach your goal of offering a program abroad.
