International Student Corner: International Student Visa and Travel
We understand that each student’s situation is unique, and as such, we are meeting with students one-on-one to provide personalized guidance. We strongly encourage all international students to stop by our office to discuss any concerns they may have—including questions about visa expiration, travel plans, or general immigration matters. No concern is too small, and we are here to help ensure that every student feels informed and supported.
We have also sent out a campus-wide email inviting students to come in for I-20 travel signatures, which we are now issuing with wet signatures and official DSO stamps. While digital signatures have been standard practice, in the current political climate, we want to provide the strongest and most secure documentation possible to help minimize the risk of questioning during travel.
In our conversations with students, we are being transparent about the political environment while emphasizing that we fully support their right to travel. We understand and respect that some students may feel going home for the summer is the best decision for them. Additionally, we are advising that visa renewals are typically best handled in a student’s home country, should that apply to their situation.
Our commitment is to stand by our students, advocate for them, and ensure they have the tools and information they need to navigate these uncertain times with confidence.
If you are an international student and have any concerns, please reach out or visit our office—we are here for you.
Sincerely,
Agnes Simon
