Scam with the Intent of Stealing Money
Please be on the alert that a phishing attack has been sent to some members of our community over the weekend offering for sale or for free a number of personal items, including a guitar, an amplifier, and a trailer. This is a scam with the intent of stealing money from people by asking them to pay for shipping for these items.
Sending any type of solicitation through an email system is forbidden by policy, so any message that you receive with such an offer should be considered suspicious and should be reported as spam or phishing immediately.
Do not click on any links or engage by email with anyone related to this message.
As our cyber security training stresses, please continue to help keep our community safe by being vigilant for any suspicious emails, or any offers that seem too good to be true, by reporting any messages or contacting Information Security or the ITS Helpdesk with questions.
