NEW - Student Driver Approval Process

If your department will be using University vehicles and utilizing student drivers, please review the
process for having students approved to drive. Please do not request a student driver to be processed
until within 30 days of their scheduled trip.
Student Driver Background Check & Monitoring Process
• Students must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license.
• The license must have been issued for at least 2 years.
• Students must follow all Federal, State, and University policies and guidelines.
• Faculty and staff should complete the attached spreadsheet and send it to
Transportation@fairfield.edu.
• Students will then receive instructions directly from Holman to provide license information and
consent to a background check.
• Once the background check is complete, students will receive a second email with instructions to
complete driver education (3 online modules, approx. 30 minutes).
• After successfully completing the training, the student will be eligible to drive University vehicles.
• Student driving records will be monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance and safety.
