Okta Identity Management Coming This Month

Information Technology Services is excited to announce that we are moving from NetIQ to Okta as our identity management platform. Okta is a modern, secure, cloud-based identity management platform that will allow you to access University applications easily and safely.

What can I do to prepare?

Will I need to claim my account or change my password?

All existing accounts will be migrated from our current identity management system to Okta. Your username, password, and permissions will stay the same so you will be able to continue to access University systems with Okta as you currently do with your NetID.

Will I still need to use Duo MFA?

Duo will continue to be our multi-factor authentication method. The first time you login to any application that uses Okta authentication, you will need to link Duo with your Okta account. An article explaining this first-time login process can be found in our knowledge base.

When will I start seeing Okta login screens?

Starting September 15th, we will begin rolling out Okta single sign on to university applications in groups. We will communicate via announcements in my.Fairfield and in Fairfield Today when applications will migrate, so everyone knows when to expect to see the new Okta login screen on an application.

Keep an eye on Fairfield Today for more news about the transition to Okta. Additional communications will follow with more information before our full transition to Okta on October 1st.

ITS is working to ensure the transition to Okta is nearly invisible to you. If you have any questions about our move to Okta, please contact the ITS Help Desk by email at itshelpdesk@fairfield.edu or by phone at x4069.
