"Rebel Rossa" (2016), the second film in the series, will be shown on October 15. The documentary features the life of Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa (1831-1915), a Fenian leader who was imprisoned for his rebel activities and exiled to America. As the editor of The Irish People, a Fenian newspaper, he raised funds for a bombing campaign in England. He also created a dynamite school in New York. He was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. After his death, his wife, Mary Jane, succeeded in having his body returned to Ireland for burial. At Rossa's large funeral in Dublin, Patrick Pearse, the future leader of the 1916 Easter Rising, gave a stirring eulogy. The personal documentary was directed and produced by filmmaker Williams Rossa Cole, the great-grandson of the Fenian.
Director Williams Rossa Cole will introduce the film and field questions from the audience following the screening.
