Fairfield Dolan Dean's Executive Forum: Jay McLaughlin '70
Date: 09-23-2025
Time: 05:00 PM
Location: Dolan Event Hall
What does it take to go from a single storefront to nationally recognized brand? What makes a business plan truly viable? Join us as Jay McLaughlin `70, entrepreneur and co-founder of the iconic eponymous fashion label, shares his journey from Fairfield University student to fashion magnate, real estate visionary, and restaurateur.
After graduating from Fairfield, McLaughlin worked in his father’s Brooklyn real estate business before he and his brother Kevin opened their first clothing store, Sea Island Clothiers, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 1977. In 1979, they rebranded to become J.McLaughlin. Since then, the American sportswear brand J.McLaughlin has expanded to include a catalog, a website, and more than 180 tastefully designed stores in downtown neighborhood locations across the nation, including Southport, Connecticut.
The Fairfield Dolan Dean’s Executive Forum engages thought leaders and distinguished executives to discuss issues that have profound impacts on business and/or societies. This event will be moderated by Dean Zhan Li, DBA.
