Okta Identity Management - Launching October 1st
Date: 10-01-2025
Information Technology Services has been working to convert all single sign on applications to use Okta authentication. Over half of our applications have been converted and expect to have almost every application set to use Okta starting by October 1st. After October 1st, you may notice a few applications that still use the old NetID login screen, but these will be converted in the coming weeks.
Before October 1st, you will see a pop-up announcement in my.Fairfield when launching an application that uses Okta authentication. Below are some reminders as Okta comes to more applications.
Will I need to claim my account or change my password?
All existing accounts will be migrated from our current identity management system to Okta. Your username, password, and permissions will stay the same so you will be able to continue to access necessary University systems with Okta as you currently do with your NetID.
Will I still need to use Duo MFA?
Duo will continue to be our multi-factor authentication method. The first time you login to any application that uses Okta authentication, you will need to link Duo with your Okta account. An article explaining this first-time login process can be found in our knowledge base.
If you have any questions or encounter any issues accessing an application using Okta, please contact the ITS Help Desk by email at itshelpdesk@fairfield.edu or by phone at x4069.
