Banned Together: Documentary Film Screening and Discussion for Banned Books Week
Date: 10-06-2025
Time: 05:30 PM
Location: DiMenna-Nyselius Library Auditorium (lower level)
In honor of Banned Books Week 2025, we are hosting a film screening of Banned Together: The Fight Against Censorship on Monday, October 6th at 5:30pm in the Library Auditorium (Room 101). Following the film, there will be a brief discussion facilitated by Gwen Alphonso of the Politics Department and Bryan Crandall of the Connecticut Writing Project at Fairfield University.
Banned Together follows three students as they fight to reinstate 97 books suddenly pulled from their school libraries. As they evolve from local to national activists, they meet with banned authors, politicians, and the major players protecting the First Amendment of our Constitution. This explosive film features a diverse cast of visionary teenagers, stirring public protests, private threats, criminal charges, and drama-filled school board meetings!
This program is presented by the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, the CAS Politics Department, and the Connecticut Writing Project at Fairfield University.
