Five-time Olivier Award-winner Imelda Staunton joins her real-life daughter Bessie Carter for the first time, portraying mother and daughter in Shaw’s incendiary moral classic. Vivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time, while her mother has built her fortune by exploiting the patriarchal system that confines her. Filmed live from London’s West End, this compelling new production reunites Staunton with director Dominic Cooke to explore the clash between morality and independence, tradition and progress.
