We will introduce opportunities to partner with the Afghan Female Student Outreach (AFSO), which provides online English and university-level courses to women in Afghanistan seeking to continue their studies despite current bans.

You’ll hear from AFSO founder Dr. Lucy Ferriss and Fairfield University faculty involved with this work through community-engaged learning and related academic initiatives about how this work aligns with our shared Jesuit commitment to expanding access, promoting human dignity, and accompanying those on the margins.

Maryam Gharmal ‘26, a Fairfield University student who fled Afghanistan in 2022, will also share how she mobilized students to create the Fairfield Scholars fund, established a student leadership group, and helped engage Fairfield students in global education and advocacy through this initiative.

We hope you can join us in exploring how we can collaborate, guided by our Jesuit mission, to help open doors for Afghan women scholars.

Please RSVP here.
