AI-Assisted Qualitative Research: A Workshop for Beginners

Large language models promise a fundamental shift in how researchers engage with qualitative data. They allow us to process larger datasets more quickly and iterate on our analytical approaches. However, using cloud-based models are fraught with ethical and legal issues, and existing integrations into paid software can be very expensive (and surprisingly limited). In this workshop we will explore how to use open-source and free software tools to analyze qualitative data, without the need for uploading your data to the cloud, risking breaches of confidentiality, or paying for subscriptions. So bring a laptop (that you can install software on), some data you want to use, and join us for a hands-on workshop where we will take you through the process of setting up the tools and beginning your analysis.
