Acclaimed theatre work Campo Minado / MINEFIELD comes to the Quick

Location: Quick Center for the Arts

The Quick invites to you engage with internationally acclaimed theatre work Campo Minado / MINEFIELD for a week of programs noted below. In Lola Arias’ MINEFIELD, six Falklands/Malvinas war veterans who once faced each other across a battlefield now face each other across a stage. Together they travel back to 1984 to share memories, films, songs, and photos as they recall their collective war and embody the political figures that led them into it.

Film Screening: Theatre of War

Experience the creative process as almost thirty-five years after the conflict, three British and three Argentine veterans spend months together discussing their war memories and then rehearsing their re-enactment that becomes MINEFIELD. Screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the cast, moderated by Peter Van Heerden.

Campo Minado / MINEFIELD
Saturday, January 26 at 8 p.m.
Free tickets for Faculty and Staff available by contacting the box office. Send a class list to boxoffice@quickcenter.com to reserve free tickets for students.
Rich with live-action projections, and told in both Spanish and English, the theatre piece is staged on a film-set-turned-time-machine, where those who fought are teleported into the past to reconstruct their memories of the war and aftermath. Soldier, veteran, human – these men have stories to share as they take us from the horrors of war to today’s uncertainties, with brutal honesty and startling humor.
