Call for Submission: AI Showcase for Teaching & Learning
Date: 04-08-2026
Time: 03:30 PM
Location: TBD
The Office of the Provost, in conjunction with the University’s AI Task Force in Teaching, Learning, & Research, is pleased to announce an upcoming AI Showcase for Teaching & Learning, which will take place on Wednesday, April 8, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Coordinated by the Center for Academic Excellence and the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, the event is designed to offer full-time and part-time Fairfield faculty the chance to demonstrate to colleagues across the university the ways in which they’re addressing artificial intelligence in the classroom and in online learning spaces.
This showcase celebrates the innovative and intellectually rigorous ways Fairfield faculty are engaging one of the most significant developments in contemporary higher education. The goal is not to promote a single approach to artificial intelligence, but to make visible the thoughtful pedagogical reasoning guiding how AI is framed within different disciplines and courses across the university.
Modeled after the Student Research Symposium, the event will feature faculty stationed at tables with their computers to demonstrate and discuss how they are intentionally addressing AI in their teaching, whether in face-to-face, hybrid, or online learning environments. This informal gathering will allow members of the Fairfield community to browse, ask questions, and engage in collegial conversation with presenters and attendees. The Provost will provide light refreshments for all participants.
Faculty from all schools and disciplines are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome examples that reflect the range of discipline-informed approaches emerging across Fairfield, including:
- Courses in which AI is integrated as a learning tool to support student development and professional preparation
- Courses in which AI is permitted in specific contexts with clear parameters and guidance
- Courses in which AI use is intentionally limited, grounded in clearly articulated disciplinary, pedagogical, or ethical reasoning
In all cases, we seek to highlight the intentional work faculty are doing to help students understand not only how AI may be used, but why it is used or limited within a particular field of study. Please note: the uses needn’t be groundbreaking to be submitted — instead, we want to highlight a wide range of thoughtful approaches that present a full picture of how Fairfield faculty are addressing this challenge.
To apply, fill out the form at AI Showcase Presenter Submission Form at https://forms.office.com/r/PeQBK0fQup by Friday, March 20. Any questions can be directed to Assoc. Vice Provost Jay Rozgonyi at jrozgonyi@fairfield.edu.
