Roundtable with Faculty & Students
IRAN IN THE CROSSHAIRS
The Global Stakes of War
Monday, March 16 | 12:30 – 2:00 PM – Pizza & Dessert
(Monday after Break)
BCC – Lower Level
War against Iran is dominating headlines—but what’s happening, and why do the stakes reach far beyond the region?
Join faculty in Modern Middle East History, Politics/International Relations, and Religious Studies for a roundtable on the global stakes of war in the Gulf.
We’ll ask: How did we get here? What histories and power dynamics shape this conflict? Why does the Persian Gulf matter for energy, trade routes, and international security? How do religious ideas—especially Shiʿa traditions and martyrdom—intersect with politics? What role do outside powers play, and what could happen next?
Please join us Monday, March 16 at 12:30 in the BCC - Lower Level for an engaging Faculty & Student Roundtable.
Come for context, not sound bites!
Pizza & dessert provided.
The event is co-sponsored by Islamic World Studies and Humanities Institute.
