The 2026 Ronald M. Davidson Humanities Seminar Student Fellows Presentations

The Humanities Institute is excited to be hosting the 2026 research presentations by Student Fellows of the Ronald M. Davidson Humanities Seminaron Tuesday, April 14 at 4pm in the Kelley Center Presentation Room. The Student Fellows have been working for the full academic year on their innovative scholarly projects in the Humanities and related disciplines under the mentorship of the Seminar’s Faculty Fellows. They will provide overviews of their projects followed by Q and A and fellowship. 

 

2025-2026 cohort of Student Fellows and project titles:

  • Manuela Baranowski ’27, “Urban Transformation as Collective Healing in Colombia: Social Urbanism, Nature, and Memory in Medellín and Manizales” (mentored by Dr. Samuel Grimes )
  • Laura Clavijo ’26,“The Grammar of Excess: Magical Realism, Othered Emotion, and Domestic Domination in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel” (mentored by Dr. Nels Pearson)
  • Therafi "Ariel" Lin ’27, “Purifying Pathology: Examining Cultural and Medical Implications of Metaphors in the Study of Diseases" (mentored by Dr. Sonya Huber)
  • Ana Luisa Moura ’26, “The Emotional Mother: Psychology, Authority, and Infant Feeding” (mentored by Dr. Carolina Añón Suárez)
  • Aidan Pickett ’26, “Antiquity, Authority, and Consent: "Finding as Founding" in Sigourney” (mentored by Dr. Daniel Libatique)
  • Ciara Weber '26, “Restoring The Táin Bó Cúailnge: Reading Irish Myth Through The Lens of Prehistoric Celtic Gender Norms” (mentored by Dr. Upasana Dutta)
