Date: 07-08-2026

Time: 12:30 PM

Location: Library Room 101

The School of Engineering and Computing invites the campus community to an invited research seminar by Marina Picciotto, PhD, President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Professor of Neuroscience at Yale University.

Dr. Picciotto will present “Nicotine Addiction: From Molecules to Behavior,” a talk exploring the neurobiology of nicotine addiction and how nicotine acts on receptors in the brain and body to influence cells, circuits, brain dynamics, and behavior. Her work connects molecular neuroscience, imaging, genetics, chemogenetics, optogenetics, and computational analyses of behavior to better understand addiction and identify new approaches for smoking cessation.

Dr. Picciotto is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. She previously served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neuroscience and President of the Society for Neuroscience, and she currently serves as President of AAAS.
