Summer Flexible Schedule Program

Summer Flexible Schedule Program

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce the continuation of the Flexible Work Schedule Program for 2020.  Under this program, employees may elect to take additional time off during the summer months, which serves to promote University cost savings and provides employees with the opportunity to set aside family or personal time.

If interested and approved by your department director, you may request time off without pay during the months of June, July or August.  The University will continue medical/dental, life insurance and disability coverage during the non-work period in accordance with the employee’s normal work schedule.  Employees are responsible for health care, flexible spending and supplemental life deductions accrued during this time.  Tuition benefits and vacation accruals will also continue based on your normal work schedule.  Regular salary payments, retirement plan contributions, and applicable sick and personal day accruals will be suspended during this absence.

If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, please discuss it with your immediate supervisor.  While there is no guarantee that all requests for a reduced work schedule can be granted in full, effort will be made to balance such requests with the need to maintain the integrity of University and department operations.

Your department director must notify Faith Hunt, Assistant Vice President for HR Operations, in writing at least two (2) weeks prior to leave.  If you have any questions, please contact Faith at extension 2258 or FHunt@fairfield.edu.
