Workday Absences with Summer Hours

If you’re taking time off during the summer, you will need to adjust the quantity of hours when you request your absence in Workday. The hours that you request as your absence, should be equal to the actual number of hours that you’re taking off. At the end of the week, all hours combined should equal your regularly scheduled hours.

For example, if you’re a 35 hour/week employee, your scheduled summer hours are 7.75 hours Monday-Thursday and 4 hours on Friday. If you request an absence on Monday, you’ll need to change the default 7 hours in Workday to 7.75 hours before you submit your absence request. If you take a day off on Friday, you’ll need to change the default 7 hours to 4 hours before you submit.

To adjust the hours for your requested absence in Workday, before you submit your absence request, click “Edit Quantity per Day”, make the appropriate adjustment for each requested day, and click “Done”.
