Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Do 1#Thing to create change and inspire others to do the same.

Location: NA

Domestic violence impacts millions of people each year, but it can be prevented. #1Thing is about moving people from awareness to action. It inspires thinking about how we, as individuals, can take small steps that leads to real change. The Awareness + Action = Social Change campaign idea demonstrates that to accomplish real social transformation, we must incorporate concrete action steps that we all can take. Everyone plays a role in creating the world we want to live in and when each commit to doing just one thing, the collective power of our actions can create real social transformation. Change can start small with just #1ThingThink about the #1Thing #UnaCosa you will do this month (and throughout the year) to inspire change. Here are some ways you can show your commitment to ending dating and domestic violence (D/DV) in our community:

  • Address #D/DV by using your voice to speak out when you see a potential problem.

  • Do #1Thing to make a difference to a survivor of #D/DV; listen, believe, support.

  • Write a letter to the Editor about the need to support #D/DV services in your community.

  • Wear a purple ribbon or sticker and tell others why you are wearing it.

  • Meaningful collaboration is #1Thing that advances our shared vision of social justice. Who can you reach out to today?

  • Modeling respect, equality, and peace in your relationships is #1Thing you can do to help end domestic violence.

  • Community connectedness is #1Thing that promotes the prevention of multiple forms of violence, including dating violence, domestic violence, and sexual violence. What’s #1Thing you can do to help foster connectedness in your community?
