Catholic-Speaking Up: From Anger to Resolve

Location: Sat., Feb 2, 4:00-5:00 pm, DSB Dining Room

Join us for a new series, "Catholic Women in Public Life." Susan Bigelow Reynolds, Ph.D. (Candler School of Theology, Emory University) will give a talk titled “Speaking Up: From Anger to Resolve.”

As a young adult, Susan Bigelow Reynolds was active in parish life –from Brownsville to Boston - which led her to
doctoral study in theology. She had just begun her academic career in August 2018 when the grand jury report on sexual abuse in Pennsylvania’s Catholic Church became public.

She had to speak up, penning an open letter that asked the US bishops to resign as a sign of their collective repentance, a letter that received 6,200 signatures. She will tell this story and invite our reflections on the situation in the Church today.  This is a Catholic Studies event, free and open to the public -- Saturday, February 2nd, 4:00-5:00 pm, Dolan School of Business Dining Room.
