THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS: INNOVATION LAB LECTURE SERIES
Presented by the Fairfield University College of Arts and Sciences Innovation Lab
Co-Directors,
Mehmet Cansoy, Assistant Professor, Sociology & Anthropology
Jo Yarrington, Professor, Visual & Performing Arts

In this webinar presentation, artist Laura Splan will showcase her recent exhibition at BioBAT Art Space at the Brooklyn Army Terminal which featured an immersive installation of SARS-CoV-2 molecular animations. She will also discuss recent bioart residencies where she developed projects that explore the interconnectedness of cultural and biological systems during the coronavirus pandemic. Splan’s interdisciplinary studio practice often uses textiles, materialities, and gestures to understand the structures that form our entangled precarity while also evoking the technologies that circumscribe it. You can also catch more of Splan’s work the following week, on March 24, as she presents a creative demonstration of her unconventional use of molecular visualization software tools and techniques.

The second part of this program will take place on March 24 at 7 p.m.
