2021 Virtual Innovative Research Symposium

Join together on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to celebrate academic excellence.  Fairfield University spotlights our outstanding undergraduate and graduate student research done in collaboration with faculty mentors at this annual signature event.  This year, the Innovative Research Symposium will be held online.

There Are Many Ways to Take Part Online in the Innovative Research Symposium:

View the eBook and browse over 250 research projects from Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies students, Sigma Xi STEM students, and students who have pursued independent and community-based research. Fairfield NetID holders can view student Quip pages.


Join faculty-moderated Zoom presentations as students present their research from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and from 2 – 4:30 p.m. (NetID required).


Watch the noontime Live Show and get a behind-the-scenes look at campus life from four student-researchers and their faculty mentors. 


Following the Live Show at 1 p.m. tune in for Environmental Sustainability, Social Justice, and Public Health: a Conversation with Melody Serafino ’05.” 


At 4:30 p.m. join the concluding celebration of creativity and innovation with Pilobolus Dance Company.  Celebrate Earth Day and enjoy an online viewing of Pilobolus’ performance of their piece “Branches,” performed on campus among “The Lost Birds Project” sculptures by artist Todd McGrain. Following the viewing will be a conversation with the artists and Fairfield Visual and Performing Arts students.
