Joseph Sauvageau, PhD '79 and Dean Andres L. Carrano, PhD will discuss the on-going NASA Mars 2020 Mission involving the Perseverance Rover and Ingenuity Helicopter managed by the Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Dr. Sauvageau will do a deep dive into the objectives of the Mission and share some of the background as to challenges that had to be addressed and how the effort was ultimately executed. In addition, Dr. Sauvageau will provide insight into how he went from Fairfield to a career at NASA - and what NASA is looking for in future engineers and scientists.
