R.A.D. Women's Self Defense Workshop

Date: 10-12-2019

Time: 10:00 AM

Location: Barone Campus Center - Dogwood Room

The Department of Public Safety is again pleased to offer R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Training to the women of the University community. R.A.D. is the largest women’s self-defense training network in the United States and Canada, and is the only self-defense program endorsed by the IACLEA (International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators). This is a 12-hour “hands-on” course which meets or exceeds all National Coalition Against Sexual Assault guidelines. Its objective is to “develop and enhance the options of self-defense so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked.”

Dates of instruction are October 12 and 13 starting at 10 am until 1 pm (Light Breakfast and Beverage available) in the Barone Campus Center’s Dogwood Room.  Review and Simulation night will start at 7:00 p.m. on October 14 in the Dogwood room.  In order to complete the program participants must attend all three sessions with participation in simulation being optional. Seats are limited; you can reserve your space by contacting Officer Charles Goodwin at cgoodwin@fairfield.edu.  This course is being offered at no charge.
