The evening of Monday, September 20, 2021, begins the 7-day Jewish Fall Harvest Festival of Sukkot.  It dates back to biblical times and is the holiday on which Thanksgiving is based.

Rabbi Jim Prosnit and Dr. Ellen Umansky, with help from several undergraduates and university staff, will be building and decorating a sukkah (hut) in the plaza between Canisius and Donnarumma Halls on Monday afternoon, September 20, at 2 pm.

All members of the University community are invited to come into the sukkah any time between the evening of September 20 and the morning of September 28.  There will be a table and chairs. It’s a nice place to eat a meal, relax, and visit with friends and colleagues. Unless it’s raining, bring your lunch and join Ellen Umansky and Jennifer Haynos of the Bennett Center for Judaic Studies, Fairfield University Jewish chaplain, Rabbi Jim Prosnit, and Marissa Lischinsky, Associate Director of Student Engagement, for lunch during one or more of the days. Bottled beverages and individually wrapped dessert will be provided.
