Summer Hours, Summer Flexible Work Schedule, and 2022-2023 Holidays

Human Resources is pleased to announce the continuation of two summer programs for employees:

Summer Hours

We will implement a modified weekly work schedule for the summer months beginning Monday, May 23, 2022, and ending on Friday, September 2, 2022.

Unless otherwise determined by your Department, summer office hours are:

Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. = 7 3/4 hours (45 min. lunch)

Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. = 4 hours (no lunch)

These times may differ for employees working a 40 hour schedule.

Summer Flexible Work Schedule Program

Under the Flexible Work Schedule program, employees may elect to take additional time off during the summer months, which serves to promote University cost savings and provides employees with the opportunity to set aside family or personal time.

You may request time off without pay during the months of June, July or August. The University will continue medical insurance, life insurance and disability coverage during the non-work period in accordance with the employee’s normal work schedule. Employees are responsible for health care, flexible spending and supplemental life deductions accrued during this time. Tuition benefits and vacation accruals will also continue based on your normal work schedule. Regular salary payments, retirement plan contributions, and applicable sick and personal day accruals will be suspended during this absence.

If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, please discuss it with your immediate supervisor.  While there is no guarantee that all requests for a reduced work schedule can be granted in full, effort will be made to balance such requests with the need to maintain the integrity of University and department operations.

To request unpaid time off in the summer, please submit your request in Workday via the Absence Worklet using “Unpaid or Summer Flex” for the requested time off type.

The request will go to your Manager to approve and then to Human Resources.
