System for Open-Water Person Detection

Abstract: A method of sensor fusion utilizing multiple infrared sensors connected through a mesh network for aerial drone search and rescue operations. The approach taken improves the effectiveness of commercially available sensors in order to locate people at reduced cost compared to current techniques.
Biography: Justin Toth works as a Senior Hardware Engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft on the Black Hawk Helicopter Platform and derivatives, including research and development aircraft. He most recently lead the wiring installation design efforts for Sikorsky’s Optionally Piloted Vehicle program. Justin earned a BS in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is currently pursuing a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Fairfield University.
