Social Justice in the Humanities Student Colloquium

Date: 03-25-2023

Time: 09:30 AM

Location: Dolan

The Social Justice in the Humanities student Colloquium will be held on Saturday, March 25th, from 9:30am-12:30pm in Dolan.

We need student proposals. Please encourage your students to submit a proposal. Proposals are due March 1. Submission can be sent here: https://forms.gle/5NVWyoSvu1oSjVRW7

Because this is a student-run event, we need student leaders who will be responsible for reading the proposals, setting the agenda, chairing the panels, and the overall organization of the colloquium.

We encourage students to be creative. Theses short, 5-7 minute presentations will be followed by a student-led panel discussion. The goal is to provide a casual venue where students feel comfortable speaking on issues of social justice. The call for proposals is purposefully broad and can encompass any format that addresses social justice through the lens of feminist, gender, or queer theory. A couple of examples of work that will be submitted include - an art student who created a series of paintings on a queer theory reading of Ruth, feminist slam poetry about the story of Adam and Eve, women's rights in Afghanistan, etc.  In addition, students may present individually or as a team as long as the presentation is limited to 5-7 minutes. The call for proposals is open to all students at all levels.
