What are you Reading? Join the Conversation!

The Office of the Provost and the DiMenna-Nyselius Library invite faculty and staff to participate in a campus-wide initiative to create reflection and conversation about reading. Provost Siegel has asked the first-year class to create short videos sharing what they read over the summer, with a small selection to be shown at the First Year Academic Convocation. Those students will add their videos through Blackboard (separate link shared with returning students) and there is a Padlet link for faculty and staff to create videos as well.

These short videos, that we are asking faculty and staff to create and upload by 9/5, could potentially be incorporated into other reading related events this semester that the Library (or other groups) plan. The Library will also make a book display with titles shared through the videos.

This is what Provost Siegel is asking:

What are you reading? What are you thinking? Pick one, two or three books and tell me about them. You can do this by submitting a short (no more than 2 minute) recording – either a video of yourself with the book, or an audio recording with a picture of the book and your voice over. Tell me the title of the book, the author, and what it made you think about.

Link for faculty and staff to upload a short video by 9/5.

We look forward to finding out what you have read this summer and finding ways to engage with one another in conversation about reading throughout the semester.
