Practicing Hope After Trauma: Domestic Violence and Resurrection

Join us and Ashley Theuring, PhD,  a practical theology scholar, educator, and advocate, for an evening exploring the complex journey of healing and hope for survivors of domestic violence. By drawing parallels with biblical stories like the Empty Tomb and the concept of Markan discipleship, Dr. Theuring critically examines common theological and pastoral approaches to this urgent issue. She introduces the idea of 'Embodied Imaginative Hope,' a framework that encourages acknowledging the evil and suffering endured, while also identifying actionable steps for the present—keeping in mind the potential for recurring trauma. This talk challenges counseling, academic, and faith-based communities to reimagine daily practices in ways that empower and support survivors

This event is Free and Open to the Public!
