"Noche de Cuentos" author event with Victoria Buitron at Bellarmine Campus, 12/1
Time: 12:30 PM
Location: Bellarmine Campus, St. Ambrose Hall, rm 101
Join us at the Bellarmine Campus on Friday, Dec. 1st at 12:30pm for an inspiring story featuring writer and translator, Victoria Buitron. Noche de Cuentos (A Night of Stories) celebrates the power of storytelling and is sponsored by REFORMA, The National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking.
Victoria Buitron will share her story and discuss her book, “A Body Across Two Hemispheres”. She writes about the intersection of identity and place, family history, and the moments her hippocampus refuses to forget. Victoria received an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairfield University.
In this electrifying debut, Victoria Buitron comes of age between Ecuador and the United States as she explores her ancestry, learns two languages, and searches for a place she can call home. It portrays not only the immigrant experience, but the often-overlooked repatriate experience while interweaving facets of depression, family history, and self-love. With the utmost honesty, A Body Across Two Hemispheres encompasses the deep and complex layers of teenage life into adulthood—and the sacrifices made along the way for Victoria to become who she was meant to be all along.
Event open to all Fairfield University students, faculty, and staff. FYE Inspire credit for first-year students. RSVP to Ivelisse Maldonado, Research & Learning Librarian for Fairfield Bellarmine at email@example.com
